Electronic Baseball Scorebook - The Tech-Savvy and Convenient Scorebook

Recording and keeping track of your team's statistics are now made easy thanks to the electronic baseball scorebook. This also lets you record your team placement, the quality of play during tournaments, and the history of each of your players. This type of scorebook is useful for both managers and coaches of baseball teams because it helps keep their records and statistics more organized.

Why go electronic?

Before the advent of the electronic baseball scorebook, there was the manual scorebook that comes in the form of spiral bound notebooks that has stat sheets inside. While they are significantly cheaper, you may have some difficulty in using one especially when it comes to keeping the data organized. For instance, you may have to struggle reading the handwriting of the person who is assigned to write on it, and you may have a hard time organizing the records later on when you do everything manually. Therefore, you are better off with electronic baseball scorebooks that boast extensive databases that can fit in all the data and information you need to input in them.

Electronic Baseball Scorebook - The Tech-Savvy and Convenient Scorebook

More benefits

The electronic baseball scorebook is technically a high-end software program that helps you keep track of your team's per-game statistics and season-to-date statistics. It can also be used for recording statistical reports of your rival baseball teams, the schedules, and the biographical information of each of your players.

Software tech support and compatibility matter

When purchasing electronic baseball scorebooks, make sure that they are equipped with software that is compatible with the operating system of your computer. Furthermore, make sure that it comes with free technical assistance or support that you can easily access by calling a toll-free number any time. That way, you can easily find solutions for any technical problems that may occur at any point in time, especially during a game.

Technology and Electronic Learning - Advantages and Disadvantages

Technology is the music that makes almost everything in the world dance. It is a necessity at work, it plays a great role in maintaining our social life and it is a factor that make everything seem more convenient. This is why more and more educational institutions are trying to incorporate technology in the school curriculum. After all, if computers are the way of the future, schools must make sure that the children know how to operate them.

Nowadays, it is not a surprise to see a child carrying a laptop in their school bag. Some elite educational institutions are even requiring their students to have their own laptop. Okay, so what seems to be the big deal with electronic learning?

Here are some advantages and disadvantages of the computers, the Internet and electronic learning:

Technology and Electronic Learning - Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:

o Computers help students and professionals alike to perform their required tasks. Students need it to accomplish paper works and requirements like term papers and presentation for reports. Thus everybody should at least know how to use applications for word processing and build a decent slide show presentation.

o The world wide web is perhaps the biggest database of information. You get to save money because do not really have to buy an expensive encyclopedia set to do some research. Then again all these information will be practically useless especially if people do not know how to access it. So teaching students how to use the Internet in schools is essential.

o Believe it or not, the use of Internet to do your daily chores, like shopping, depositing money to your account has an environmental impact as it lessens the use of carbon, a known air pollutant and paper which also lessens our need to cut down trees.

o It can be a good medium of interaction. Now in educational chat rooms or discuss boards, a student can get to have in depth knowledge of a different culture. This way, students can help each other accomplish homework while gaining friends.

Disadvantages:

o Posting too much information with different sources can be quite confusing to a person doing research. What's worse is that you may find sources with conflicting information. Figuring out what's fact from fiction may be quite tough. You may even end up consulting your books just to double check.

o People loses the chance to have face to face interaction. This is what concerns most parents. Instead of spending time with their family or friends, it bothers them to see their kids spending a lot of time in front of the computer playing some games on line. This is also known to lessen development of motor skills as well. Some researches even connect this Internet addiction to obesity in children.

o If un-patrolled, the Internet, the very tool for e-learning can potentially corrupt our children's minds. Online, a child as young as 7 years old can pose to be someone older, thus giving them information that is supposed to be restricted to people of legal age. They can easily get into porn sites without your knowledge.

Four Major Forces Creating Change in Organizations Today - Skills That Leaders Need

Globalization, technological changes, knowledge management and cross boundaries collaboration are four factors that are major forces creating change in organizations today.

These changes affect decision-making as organizations are forced to recognize that they need leaders who are innovative, creative visionaries who understand the various environments that their organizations are operating in, and are able to differentiate between these different environments.

These environments include: the external or operating environment; the competitive environment (that part of the external environment in which firms that are competing for the same market exist) and the macroenvironment in which influences such as the economy, government regulations, societal values, demographics and technology come to bear upon an organization.

Four Major Forces Creating Change in Organizations Today - Skills That Leaders Need

Faced with such complexities leaders need to be equipped with appropriate skill-sets such as flexibility, good communication, and critical thinking and negotiation abilities. They must also be supported with the necessary resources in order to make good decisions that will benefit their organizations.

Globalization

A convergence of international activities such as the increase in overseas production of goods and services; increasing consumer demands in emerging markets worldwide; declining barriers to international trade aided by rapidly changing technology, have created a globalized economy in which inter-dependency among countries has emerged as the norm today. Therefore the hiring practices of companies who are seeking the best talent have changed because the best talent might no longer be resident in the home country.

Companies have had to calibrate their hiring, training and management practices to meet this challenge. In a world where "Americans too often come across as intrusive, manipulative, and garrulous" (David, 2007, p.291), US organizations have to be respectful of the culture, customs, political, and legal differences of the countries that they are operating in.

Some of these customs affect protocol such as the exchange of gifts, the observance of holidays, and labor laws. Even accounting standards vary internationally. Therefore organizations must be sensitive to these differences when formulating operational and human resource (HR) policies for implementation abroad for, in this global environment, it is hardly likely that companies can apply the domestic policies that work at home, abroad.

Technological Change:

Technology is like a two-edged sword that can make our lives easier or worse. The Internet has revolutionized the way in which information is exchanged, communication facilitated and commerce conducted. Technology is rapidly changing and effective management demands more knowledge in these areas in order for companies to manage their resources and develop, maintain or keep their competitive edge.

While technology has enabled firms to save time and money by conducting business such as negotiations, trade, and commerce in real time, it can also facilitate the dissemination of sensitive information about a company's practices, trade secrets and new product development in a matter of seconds.

Hackers can breach a company's security via the internet and put companies at risk. Organizations have responded by having whole new types of departments such as Information Technology (IT) departments, headed by managers with titles such as Chief Information Officer (CIO), to manage both the opportunities and the risks associated with technological changes.

Additionally, technology has ushered in an array of high-tech devices that aid and facilitates companies in gathering and managing information, maintaining contact with their employees globally, making and communicating decisions instantaneously. This can be both a boon and a source of stress for managers and leaders who must learn to manage their choice and use of these devices. In a global economy technology can aid in knowledge management

Knowledge Management

Driving forces such as shifts in buyer demographics and preferences; technology, product and market innovation; changes in society, consumer attitudes and lifestyle all demand new ideas. This has created a need for knowledge workers.

Knowledge workers comprise a company's intellectual capital and are made up of creative people with novel ideas and problem-solving skills. Managing its knowledge assets can give a company a competitive edge as it effectively utilizes the expertise, skills, intellect, and relationships of members of the organization.

For example, a company's strategic management efforts can be greatly enhanced when knowledge that is resident in its international talent pool is tapped at its source, since a manager who is "closer to the ground" and part of the local culture might be better able to sense environmental changes than one who is not.

Keeping knowledge workers motivated and incentivized by both intrinsic and extrinsic means will cause organizations to re-think and change their benefits and compensation methods and, perhaps, even redefine the traditional view of the employer-employee relationship into something new, such as a company-contractor model, for example.

Cross-boundaries Collaboration

An important part of knowledge management is effectively managing organization-wide collaboration. Use of appropriate technology and applications such as a virtual private networks; VoIP, e-mail, social networking websites such as Face Book, and even company-sponsored blogs can facilitate communication between an organization and its stakeholders, and help in different types of internal and external collaborative processes. An example of a tool that can be used in cross-boundaries collaboration might be an easily accessible online database that provides a central source of information to employees, customers, or suppliers.

Managing in the 21st Century

In the 21st Century change is the norm rather than the exception and leaders must be able to embrace it. They need to be able to develop:

A vision, and be able to communicate it to their organizations An orientation to serving An entrepreneurial mind-set A commitment to continuous innovation A global mindset Ease and confidence with technology Know-how in systems thinking (a broad view of the inter-relationship of an organization's parts, rather than a narrow view that is focused on one part or event.) A sense of ethics and appreciation of spirituality in the workplace A commitment to continuous learning, personal and professional development

In order to respond effectively to the four major forces creating change in today's global economy leaders must be willing to embrace change; they must be curious and appreciative of the richness and diversity of other cultures. The must be trust-worthy and flexible; and they must have very strong time management, communication, conflict-management, problem-solving and people-skills in order to effectively manage these drivers of change.

Do Electronic Pest Repeller's Really Work?

There is a debate going on throughout the Internet about the usefulness and effectiveness of Electronic pest repeller's. Do they really work? Do you repel pests like rats, mice, insects, and other unwanted creatures? The answer is a little vague, they work "most of the time".

Not a definitive answer to an important question for a lot of people. The reason it is not definitive is that there has been very little scientific research on the devices and the little that has been done is inconclusive. That leaves us with personal opinion and testimony.

Before we talk about that lets take a look at the different types of Electronic Pest Repeller's out there. One of the most popular Pest Repeller's is one that claims to use Electromagnetic Technology. The brand says the "unit actually changes the normal field around your wiring, creating an environment that pests just can't tolerate." Another popular type is the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller. These types say "ultrasonic sound waves attack the auditory and nervous systems of most common pests causing them pain and discomfort." The last technology for Electronic Pest Repeller's is Ionic air cleaning. These say cleaning the air with Ions is an effective way of repelling pests. Those are the 3 main technologies of Pest Repelling. We will have more info about each in future articles.

Do Electronic Pest Repeller's Really Work?

Back to the question at hand, do they work? Most people will say "yes", they do work for them. Naturally, some say they do not work. However, from our research, the feedback is mostly positive. The other very important evidence we point to is the popularity of Electronic Pest Repeller's. Millions have been sold worldwide and millions more every year. Logic concludes that if they didn't work, sales would be plummeting. The consumer will usually decide how good a product is and in this case they must work pretty well. Compared to the cost (both financial, safety, and time) of chemical treatment, Electronic Pest Repeller's may be worth a try.

6 Tips To Start Your Auto Repair Shop Business Today

So you want to start an auto repair shop business here are 6 tips to get you started off right.

1) First as with any business you need to write a business plan:

Businesses that do not write a business plan usually fail you must know what you expect for the business. Where is it headed? Will you some day have a franchise or will you only have one location? What type of advertising should you do? How much will it cost for shop equipment employees tools lifts etc. You must write a plan to know where your business is headed. You would not plan a trip with out looking at a map would you? Make sure to map out your business to see future plans become a reality.

6 Tips To Start Your Auto Repair Shop Business Today

2) Register for a business license:

Call your local SBA they are the best place to start. They can tell you about loans, free publications and so much more. You must register your business with the local city hall. You should call the court house to find out what business licenses you will need as they vary from state to state. In my county you do not need a fictitious name if the business is in your name such as David's Car Repair but if you want Elite Car Repair you must file with the state for a fictitious name which can be done online.

3) Open a business account:

This is very important you will need an account just for the business to pay for business expenses. This is where a lot of businesses fail they spend business profits on personal bills. In the first few years of business the business must keep 80% of income to sustain itself and grow. I know it is tempting but be careful. Contact your local bank and get a no fee checking account for your business.

4) Get insurance:

You must have garage insurance if you will have employees you will need worker comp insurance and you should check into what ever other liabilities there may be for your area fire, hurricanes,tornado etc. Insurance can make or break your growing business if you have insurance and the shop burns down insurance will pay to replace your shop. Or if you have disability insurance for just yourself if your a one man business. If you break your wrench hand you can sustain the business for months until you get well.

5) Pick a location:

The old adage location, location, location is true with auto repair shops. You should make sure to find a shop right by the interstate or the main highway. If you can put your shop in the middle of your busy town. If you can find a shop location by the highway it will be very lucrative for your business.

6) Advertise:

To me this is one of the most important things you can do for your shop. The old adage "when you do not advertise a funny thing happens" Nothing is true in the auto repair business. The first thing you do if your car needs repairs and you do not know any one to fix it for you. Most people would check the phone book go online check the newspaper. A good source of advertising is tow truck companies in you area. What do truck drivers see daily that is right broken down vehicles. Offer them a referral fee for every customer they send you. You could pick up 10 or more repair jobs a month from them alone. Marketing is very important in any business get creative have fun and always under promise and over deliver and you will be successful.

Your Family Beliefs and Attitudes Affect You Today: Learning to Embrace Them or Replace Them

We are imprinted, positively and negatively, by the beliefs, attitudes, values and behaviors of those in our families.

For thousands of years people have passed along their wisdom and knowledge and built on the past and moved forward into the future telling each other stories.

Storytelling helps us make sense of our early life and family life, and often provides essential clues about the values, behaviors, attitudes and beliefs that we have embraced and live by, or have rejected and replaced.

Your Family Beliefs and Attitudes Affect You Today: Learning to Embrace Them or Replace Them

Part of learning to tell and write our stories, is recognizing the themes and patterns of family beliefs, attitudes, values and behaviors.

Does your family have a mythology about children, elders, illness, money, expressing emotion, career etc., to which everyone subscribes?

When I introduce the idea of identifying themes and patterns, I frequently offer examples that may spark your thinking and awareness.

In my friend Diane's family one underlying theme is children are dispensable or disposable. Consider these stories:

1. When Diane's maternal grandfather was 3 years old he, his mother, father, and six older siblings escaped the Pogroms in Prussia in a hay wagon and came to the United States by ship. His mother died aboard ship from unknown causes. When they arrived in New York, his father kept the two girls with him, sent the four brothers to live with three uncles and placed Diane's grandfather in an orphanage because no one was able to take one more child into their home.

2. At age 13, Diane's father and his 7-year-old brother, who was recovering from Rheumatic fever, were sent to California (from Ohio) because Diane's uncle needed to be in the warm, dry weather. The story is that Diane's fraternal grandparents were too involved in their businesses to accompany their young sons. They trusted Diane's uncle to raise his brother and enlisted the part-time assistance of an aunt and uncle who lived in the area.

3. One of Diane's grandmother's brothers became a widower as a young man. He had three wonderful children. As the story goes he met and married a woman who did not want to raise his children. In fear of losing his beloved new wife he sent his son (9), and his daughters (7 & 5) to boarding school in another state. He raised his two young step-children.

There are other stories reflective of this way Diane's family treats its children. These are not stories of bad people, but rather of family values and choices that have particular ramifications and consequences for the members of Diane's family.

In this "storytelling process" our job is to search for themes and patterns of family beliefs, behaviors, attitudes and values. It is not our job to judge or draw conclusions. Stories are data to be used to enrich our understanding and make meaning of events, experiences, and relationships.

My friend Sam grew up in a family in which everyone took care of each other. The story is that if someone came by unexpectedly to visit at mealtime, his mother would simply add more water to the soup or the stew and insist that there was plenty for everyone who was hungry.

Here are other examples of themes or patterns of relating or family values that may be familiar to you:

· Boys are given more educational advantages than girls;

· Family hopes and dreams are placed on the eldest son;

· One child is identified as the black sheep and is ostracized by or disowned from the family;

· One or more of the children is expected to join the family business;

· We die early in our family;

· We are long livers in our family;

· Following your dreams or pursuing your passion is selfish and self-centered; and

· The list goes on and on.

What's your story? What themes and patterns influenced or affected your attitudes and beliefs? What family mythologies positively or negatively affect your relationships?

Be very gentle as you proceed on this journey, resist being critical or judgmental.

Become aware of the strengths and weaknesses of beloved family members and stay open to recognition and awareness that can deepen your experience of yourself and your world. Good luck as you travel down this path of richness and courage.

Remember, only YOU can make it happen!
